Every
good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from
the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change
like shifting shadows. James 1:17
We invite you to share the good and perfect gift of
God this Christmas through the giving of gifts to families
in need. Participate by sponsoring a family, buying
needed household items for the families in our transitional
housing program, or offering your gift of service to
assist with Good Samaritan Urban Ministries' Blessing
Bin event.
ADOPT-a-FAMILY
Sign up to sponsor a family in need, either as an individual
family or as a group to adopt one or more families.
We provide names, ages, a "wish" list for
each member of the family and gift wrapping guidelines;
you buy the gifts which they receive at our Blessing
Bin, December 11. (We encourage you to attend the event
to meet your family.)

Suggested guidelines
for sponsoring a family:
1) Limit gift purchases to two (2) per family member
(maximum of $50 per person)
2) Purchase a "family" gift; suggested items:
Gift cards (grocery and retail
stores)
Restaurant gift certificates
Christmas decorations
Gas cards
Phone cards
Movie passes
3) Build a relationship with your "adopted"
family by contacting them prior to Blessing
Bin to:
Clarify their gift choices
Inquire if they have other
needs
Share with them the love of
Jesus
NOTE: "New" gift items only, please!

GIFT REGISTRY FOR HOUSEHOLD NEEDS
Good Samaritan Urban Ministries furnishes nearly
20 apartments for families participating in our transitional
housing program. Upon completion of the program, the
ministry blesses participants with the contents of their
apartment so they are equipped to set up their own home.
This year for those unable to sponsor an entire family,
we again offer the option of purchasing much needed
household items. To facilitate your "gift buying,"
we have registered at Target and Wal-Mart stores.
You can access the lists at the store, or online at
target.com and walmart.com. We are listed at Target
with Club Wedd under the "Bride" option (first
name: Good, and last name: Samaritan). At Wal-Mart,
you will find the listing registered under the same
first and last name as a "wish list". The
"event" date for both stores is December 11.

OF SERVICE
It takes many hands to plan, organize and stage the
Blessing Bin event. The blessing of service is just
as needed as the sponsoring of a family. There's a place
for everyone's "gift." Make it a family or
group project!
Some opportunities include:
1) Sponsor a craft or assist as a volunteer for a December 7
craft night
2) Donate cookies and refreshments
3) Volunteer at the Blessing Bin
event:
Set-up / Decorating
Greeters
Guest check-in
Gift check-in
Refreshment table
Clean-up
