"And whoever welcomes
a little child like this in my name welcomes me."
Matthew 18:5
Mission Statement
To foster Christian discipleship in young people
through one-on-one relationships with Christian
adults.
Our
Youth Ministry, targeting at-risk children in
the city of Des Moines, is comprised of four outreach
tools:
- Tutoring
one-on-one tutoring relationships with
children at in our Transitional Housing program,
relationships are molded and the child discovers
the joy of learning.
- Hope
for Youth Mentoring is a discipleship program
for 6th graders and up, matching youth with
a Christian role model committed to sharing
the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping youth
discover their talents and interests. As these
youth begin to explore their God-given talents,
they will be given the opportunity to explore
a range of new hobbies and activities through
the vehicle of the Youth Campus.
- The
Youth Campus will house the Hope for Youth
Mentoring program, accommodating various facilities
such as an art and craft studio, darkroom, woodworking
shop, mechanical shop, and a kitchen. It will
provide activities including music, pottery,
computer classes, sports, and much more. Each
activity will be run by volunteers called to
share a part of their life and interests with
youth.
Christ-centered
summer camps provide kids from low-income
families with the opportunity to leave their
city behind, form special bonds with camp counselors,
and above all, hear the message of hope in Jesus
Christ.
