Family Growth Program
This Christ-centered program addresses core family
stabilization issues such as personal development,
family relationships, child safety and parenting
skills, nutrition and health education, financial
management and life-skills development. Each participant
undergoes an assessment, after which a service
support plan is developed identifying short- and
long-term goals, and an interdependent support
infrastructure for each family.
Upon completion of a four week Assessment Phase,
the Family Ministries' team determines suitability
for the program. Each participant that accepts
the offer to stay will work with a staff case
manager to develop an individual service support
plan that identifies goals, strengths, challenges,
objectives, resources and length of stay.
Ministry participants earn points as they follow
their service support plan and the transitional
housing program. The number of points earned determines
the amount of money deposited in an escrow account
for receipt upon successful completion of the
program. Participants may also earn "perk"-extra-points
to help with other needs, such as debt reduction
and bus passes.
A support team is identified to walk alongside
the participant, providing accountability, encouragement,
emotional support, prayer and/or Biblical guidance,
thereby helping them achieve their goals. The
individuals on the service support team is made
up of supportive family, friends, church pastor/representatives,
or other individuals that the ministry participant
believes will be able to be a support. The ministry's
goal is for each participant to be interdependent
within a community of supportive people, encouraging
the formation of relationships beyond their stay
at Good Samaritan.
