Day Trippin': How Dreams Became a Reality

Every summer Good Samaritan Urban Ministries' children have the opportunity to experience many of the fun nature and outdoor delights of camp. However, for many of our children who come from the noisy city environment with concrete streets and sidewalks lined with brick buildings, the tranquility of nature can be frightening and a bit overwhelming. From Process to Promise

I am reminded of the story of Moses as he led the children of Israel out of captivity from the land of Egypt. Moses asked God the question, "Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:11)

As I reflect on the six months that I have been with Good Samaritan Urban Ministries, I have fully come to understand that all we do in life is a process, a series of steps taken to accomplish a specific result/goal.

House Parents Needed
Does your family want to serve as missionaries in a foreign land but you can’t leave the country? Well there’s a missionary opportunity right here in Des Moines! Good Samaritan Urban Ministries is seeking on-site House Parents (open to couples and single women – with or without children) to serve families in its transitional housing apartments located in the heart of the inner-city. Primary responsibilities include living Christ in a community setting before families trying to move out of homelessness, building relationships, pointing the families to Christ as they learn to make positive choices for their lives, and helping staff to ensure compliance with program guidelines.
